Rivea on the Gold Coast, designed by architecture firm Rothelowman, elevates this philosophy by ensuring that each of its units incorporates a corner aspect that not only maximises residents’ enjoyment of the building’s views, but offers a choice of which landscapes will dominate their outlook. At a unique vantage point between the Nerang River and the sea, apartments mingle views of the ocean, the city of Surfers Paradise, the river and the Gold Coast Hinterland, depending on their position. Jim Hampson, an associate at Rothelownan’s Brisbane practice, explains that from the intensity of ocean-facing entrance areas, the design of Rivea aims at “decompressing a little bit and bringing people into a more tranquil place.” This is immediately evident in the apartment interiors, where there is an easy flow of movement, light, and air from one space to the next, and liveability and practicality are of the essence.
