Interiors inspired by the surroundings
The interiors at Rivea’s Gold Coast apartments take cues from their inspiring surrounds to deliver a tranquil and practical setting for life by the water’s edge.

In crafting the interiors of Rivea, Brisbane-headquartered design practice Rothelowman found inspiration in the apartments’ strikingly intimate connection to their surroundings.
From location, inspiration
“We saw this point between the Nerang River and the sea as an opportunity to give people that beach lifestyle but then also connect to the still water of the Nerang River,” says Jim Hampson, an associate at Rothelowman.
Within the north–south orientation of the Gold Coast as a “linear city”, adds Rothelowman principal Jeff Brown, Rivea’s outlook on sea and hinterland “starts to set up this kind of duality between the ocean and the mountains, the east and the west, the sunrise, the sunset.”
Complementary colours
Experienced designers have translated this duality into two colour schemes—Exalt and Repose—composed with subdued tones, humble materiality, and layered textures. These complement floor-to-ceiling views of the ocean, or alternatively the Nerang River, that greet you when entering the lounge and bedrooms. Each unit has a corner view, maximising the connection to the landscape and the rhythms of night and day.
Exalt is “more of a lifted palette, reminiscent of the rising sun and the bright light of morning,” says Karmen Torralba, an interior designer at Rothelowman. “The Repose scheme is more aligned with the west, where the sun sets—everything gets a bit richer, darker.” Regardless of their unit’s orientation, off-the-plan buyers can select either of these themes for the interior fitout. Optional upgrades to carpets and benchtops, and the choice between floorboards or carpet in the bedroom, are also available.
